“While you are walking on a street, stop and lie down and look around you! Make it a habit to see everything from the uncommon corners because all the unnoticed things will be visible when looking from the ignored angles!”

Artist’s Bio
Jane Heilman is a graduate of East Carolina University's College of Fine Arts and Communication, earning a BA degree in Communication Arts. She took a number of photography classes as part of her degree coursework where she spent many hours in the black & white film darkroom along with crafting graphic arts print mechanicals by hand. Fast forward to today where she holds a heartfelt appreciation for her “old school” art experiences and thoroughly enjoys working exclusively with digital photography.
Born and raised in northern New Jersey, close to New York City, Jane was greatly influenced by the city and its art, architecture and advertising graphics. After moving to eastern North Carolina to attend ECU, she fell in love with the subtle beauty and minimalist quality of the rural landscape. She now lives in the NC Piedmont and continues to be inspired by nature, the arts, architecture and art history.
Jane's photographic images focus on abstraction, reflective surfaces, trees and plants. She is influenced by the photographs of Ansel Adams, Vivian Maier, and Eliot Porter along with the artwork of Robert Rauschenberg, Jackson Pollock, and Franz Kline.
